Govt plans to appoint 10,000 more doctors: Nasim

The government is planning to appoint 10,000 more doctors and 3,000 nurses in the near future, Health and Family Welfare Minister Muhammad Nasim said.

He said the present government appointed 6,500 doctors, 10,000 nurses in 2014 and they have a plan to recruit more doctors and nurses in coming days.

The health minister said this while addressing a views-exchange meeting at a conference in Rajshahi on Wednesday.

At the meeting, he urged doctors and others concerned to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to ensure healthcare at the doorstep of rural and marginal peoples.

Nasim said rural and marginal people are dependent on public hospitals for emergency health problems and their government is committed to reach healthcare services to them.

The minister said the government is sincerely working to ensure healthcare to all.

Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, Zila Parishad Chairman Muhammad Ali Sarker, Divisional Director of Health Dr Anisur Rahman and Vice-chancellor of Rajshahi Medical University Prof Masum Habib were present at the meeting.
