Four envoys present credentials to President

Ambassadors of China, Egypt and Palestine and High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh presented their credentials to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Wednesday afternoon.

The envoys are Zhang Zuo of China, Walid Ahmed Shamseldin of Egypt, Yousef SY Ramadan of Palestine and General (retd) AWJC De Silva of Sri Lanka.

Welcoming the envoys, President Hamid said Bangladesh's foreign policy attaches importance to bilateral and friendly relations with all, President's Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin said.

Bangladesh always gives priority to the expansion of bilateral ties in the field of trade and investment, the President said, hoping that the relations with the four countries will further be expanded during the assignments of the new envoys here.

Terming Bangladesh a country of huge potentials, Hamid underscored the need for taping all the possibilities in the respective interest of the four countries and Bangladesh to boost the businesses and trade ties.

He also urged the ambassadors and the high commissioner to become a development partner of one another each and enhance the people-people contact among the countries at the bilateral level.

During their separate meetings, the envoys told the President that they will do everything necessary to increase the bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh in the days to come.

They also lauded the socio-economic development of Bangladesh and sought cooperation of the authorities concerned in discharging their duties.

According to UNB, secretaries concerned to the President and high officials of the Foreign Ministry were present.

Earlier, on their arrival at Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out contingent of the horse-mounted President Guard Regiment (PGR) gave the envoys guards of honour as part of the ceremony.
