A four-day software exposition, titled BASIS Softexpo 2023, will kick off in Dhaka on Thursday aiming at highlighting the latest technological innovations and ICT capabilities of Bangladesh to the world.
With the slogan 'WELCOME TO THE SMARTVERSE', BASIS SoftExpo 2023, the country’s ever largest digital exhibition and one of the biggest exhibitions of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector in South Asia, will be held on February 23 to 26, 2023 at Bangabandhu Bangladesh China Friendship Exhibition Center, Purbachal in the capital.
Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is expected to inaugurate the exhibition on February 23.
Besides, Mustafa Jabbar, minister for Posts and Telecommunications of Bangladesh, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, are scheduled to attend as special guests.
The announcement was made at a press conference titled BASIS Softexpo 2023, organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) at a city hotel on Sunday.
Chaired by Russell T. Ahmed, president of BASIS, Abu Daud Khan, convener of BASIS Softexpo 2023 and BASIS vice president (Admin), on behalf of IFIC Bank Limited, the platinum sponsor of BASIS Softexpo 2023, Deputy Managing Director and Head of International Division of IFIC Bank Limited Syed Mansur Mostafa, were present at the event.
The capacities of Bangladesh's information technology sector will be highlighted through various programmes in this information technology exhibition.
Highlighting the SoftExpo, Russell T Ahmed said the exposition in the IT sector being held is unprecedented in the country’s history as such large-scale fair was never held in the country in the past.
The private sector can play a significant role in implementing the vision of Smart Bangladesh, Ahmed said, adding that continued efforts of local IT companies contributed to the realisation of the dream of Digital Bangladesh.
The organisers expect that through this event foreign investors will be encouraged to invest more in our IT sector.
As a result, Bangladesh will go ahead several steps towards achieving the target of US$ 5.0 billion export earnings by 2025”, they said.
