A fire has burnt down at least two shops at the Karwan Bazar wholesale vegetable market in the city.
Fire broke out at around 4:00am on Wednesday at a shed in the wholesale market, said Quamrul Hasan, duty officer at the fire service control room.
At least nine units of the fire service rushed to the spot and doused the fire after two hours.
Two of the five sheds in the wholesale vegetable market were damaged, bdnews24 reported quoting Quamrul.
The firemen and businessmen prevented the fire from spearing further.
No injuries have been reported in the incident. The Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence could not confirm the cause of the fire yet.
