Some ferry terminals of the country continued to see Dhaka-bound people, many of them garment workers, travelling flouting the government-imposed health guidelines, to reach the capital and join their respective work on Monday.
A good number of passengers, mostly from 21 south-western districts, were seen travelling through the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes to reach the capital and join their work since the morning.
Zillur Rahman, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation, deputy general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation Aricha office told The Financial Express that passengers especially apparel workers along with different types of emergency vehicles such as trucks and ambulances were passing the routes.
However, he said the rush of Dhaka-bound passengers decreased after Monday afternoon.
Eight ferries are now in operation on the Paturia-Daulatdia route while three are plying in Aricha-Kazirhat route, he added.
