Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury on Wednesday said EC has no plan to deploy Army in the upcoming Rangpur City Corporation election.
“Regular law enforcing agencies are enough to conduct the polls freely and fairly, he added.
The Election Commission (EC) will take all necessary measures to keep the law and order situation under control during the next parliamentary elections, said Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury.
He came up with the remark after inaugurating the smart card distribution programme among the voters at Savar Upazila Auditorium in the morning.
Local MP Dr Enamur Rahman and secretary to the EC Helaluddin Ahmed were, among others, present at the programme, according to UNB report.
