Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday imposed fines worth Tk 2,91,700 in 14 cases during anti-mosquito drives in order to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquito, dengue and chikungunya in its area.
Four mobile courts of DNCC led by four different executive magistrates conducted the drives in one, two, three and six regions under the DNCC area and imposed those fines to different people, establishments and organisations.
Aiming to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquito, mobile courts of the DNCC are running the drives at all 54 wards in 10 zones of the city corporation.
The DNCC launched the eight-day combing operation on July 10 and will continue till July 19.
Earlier, DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam called upon the city dwellers to keep their houses and establishments neat and clean and to destroy breeding of Aedes mosquitoes responsible for dengue fever.
