A number of mobile court drives and cases in the country’s drug-related violence and offences saw a significant increase in 2020 compared to that of 2019, showing an increased effort and enforcement taken by the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) to curb those crimes.
A report prepared by the DNC said different mobile courts of the department lodged 10,471 cases and 10,498 people were accused in 2020 in 23,193 drives involved with various drug-related offences across the country.
The courts also filed a total of 9,444 cases and 9,484 were accused in 18,424 in 2019 in connection with those offences, its data reveals.
The mobile court filed 6,776 cases in 13,821 drives and 6,866 people were accused in 2018, the DNC report disclosed.
