DMP files 3,205 cases over traffic rule violation

The Traffic Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 3205 cases and realised Tk 2.3 million in fine during its drives against traffic rules violators in the capital on Wednesday.

Besides, 38 vehicles were dumped and 667 others put on the wrecker during the daylong drive.

Sources at the Traffic Department said its members filed cases against vehicles on various charges including violation of traffic rules, using hydraulic horn, beacon light, dark-tinted glass, as well as for plying the vehicles on the wrong side of the road, reports UNB.

Among the cases, 307 cases were filed for plying the vehicles on the wrong side of the road, 49 for using hydraulic horns, six for beacon light and six for using dark-tinted glass.

Besides, cases were also filed against 1,328 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 68 other motorcycles were also seized during the time, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Masudur Rahman.

The Traffic Department of the DMP has also filed 40 T-Video cases against 40 vehicles, while 29 other cases were filed for using mobile phone by the drivers during driving.
