Secretary to the Education Ministry’s Secondary and Higher Secondary Division Sohrab Hossain suggested the withdrawal of the MCQ method from the secondary and higher secondary level examinations.
He came up with the suggestion at a function marking the handover of six modified textbooks of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) level, report UNB.
“I think the MCQ method should be removed and it’s my personal opinion. We’ll definitely sit with educationists over the issue,” Sohrab said while talking to reporters after the function.
Eleven SSC-level textbooks have been modified by a committee formed earlier to do so.
Committee members Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) Prof Mohammad Kaikobad and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal handed over six textbooks to Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at the function.
The modified books will be distributed among the students in the next academic year.
The Education Ministry has formed the committee to modify 12 textbooks of the SSC level. The committee has already handed over 11 books to the ministry after modifying those.
Nahid said they will receive the remaining modified book soon. “The textbooks of other classes will be modified in phases,” he said.
