Today (May 30) is the 1st death anniversary of ex-Executive Editor of The Financial Express (FE) Shahiduzzaman Khan.

Shahiduzzaman Khan passed away on this day last year at the age of 72. He is survived by his two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

Family members, friends, relatives, and colleagues of the late Shahiduzzaman Khan will recall the fond memories and pray for the salvation of his departed soul.

Mr Khan had been working with the FE since its inception in 1993 as its Executive Editor.

After the sudden demise of AHM Moazzem Hossain, founding editor of the FE, in early August 2018, Mr Khan also served the first financial daily of the country as its acting editor for a certain period.

After completing his BA (Hons) in English language and literature from the University of Dhaka, Mr Khan joined the then The Pakistan Observer (later Bangladesh Observer) as a sub-editor in 1970.

In his long career as a journalist, he worked with The Daily Star as a special correspondent and continued there until October 1991.

Later, he joined the now-defunct The Telegraph, Dhaka, as its economic editor in 1991 and worked there until 1993.

He also served the Weekly Evidence as its consulting editor from 1995 to 1997 and also worked as a Bangladesh correspondent of the Gulf News from 1985 to 1992.

He obtained a diploma in journalism from the International School of Journalism, College of Solidarity, Berlin, Germany, in 1976, and took part in fellowship training on development journalism sponsored by the Thomson Foundation of the UK in 1987.

He had affiliation with various national and international organisations namely Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) and Sir M MacDonald & Partners Limited.
