Customs officials have recovered 80 gold bars weighing 9.28 kilograms from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Thursday.
Ataul Islam, inspector custom, said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines BG-087 landed at the airport from Kuala Lumpur around 4:30 am.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of customs officials, led by Fahmida Mehzabin, deputy commissioner (customs), conducted a search operation in the flight and recovered the gold bars worth Tk 46.8 million from under a seat wrapped in black scotch tape.
However, no arrests were made in this connection yet, reports UNB.
