Customs seizes medicine worth Tk 16m at HSIA

The members of customs intelligence have seized a huge quantity of restricted and illegally imported medicine from a Hajj flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka.

The medicine, worth 16 million, was found in the Hajj flight that came in from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia around 5:00 pm, said Dr Shahidul Islam, director general of CIID.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) remained alert in the airport premises, said the CIID chief.

After arrival of the flight (SV 808), the team started searching luggage and found the illegal medicine inside eight luggage, reports UNB.

The seized medicines are- Albumininj50ml, Lantussolostaring, Neoral 100mg, Levemir 100ml, AnxateFlumazelcap, Rhophylac 300mg,Victroza6mg, Euthrox 50 mg tablet, Cipralex10 mg, LepraLevetiractam500 mg, Mimpara, Novorapid 100uml, Cellcept 500 mg, One Alpha 25 mgand Salazopyrin 500ml.

Necessary legal steps will be taken under the customs act, the official added.
