Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport of Dhaka have detained a citizen of the United States with a drone, which was brought without a declaration.
Customs Intelligence chief Moinul Khan US passport holder Mark Rumam Kutrobskir was detained late Monday from the boarding lounge.
"Kutrobskir was detained as he violated the import-control law by bringing in a drone without proper clearances," said the head of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
The customs official said Mark Rumam Kutrobskir was waiting to board a China Southern Airline flight to leave Bangladesh.
“The drone has nine cameras. He told us that he has taken photographs and shot videos in parts of Bangladesh,” he said.
According to bdnews24, the 22-year-old US citizen arrived in Dhaka on January 26 by an Emirates Airways flight and did not declare the drone, said Khan.
"He was supposed to catch a flight for the US via China’s Guangzhou early Tuesday," he added.
