Customs officials seized five gold bars worth Tk 3.0 million (30 lakh) and detained three people at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, the members of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) arrested the three passengers who arrived in Dhaka with flight no BG040 from Saudi Arabia at 4:30pm. The law enforcers recovered the gold bars weighing 585gm after searching their bodies, shoes and the battery place of their cell phones, according to a release of CIID.
Legal action will be taken in this connection, the release added.
