Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five alleged members of a gang that trades in kidneys through social media.
The crime-busting force made the arrests conducting a drive from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning in Vatara, Banasree and Mirpur areas of the capital.
Commander of RAB-1 Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Noman disclosed the development to the media at a press briefing at the force's media centre at Karwan Bazar. He said the gang comprising 15 to 20 members were involved in the illegal kidney trade by using social media.
RAB also seized 14 passports of the victims (affected by the arrestees), affidavit copies of victims, documents of kidney cross-matching, local and foreign currencies, national identity cards of different persons, cheque books, ATM cards, blank stamps, CPU, mobile phone sets and mobile SIM cards.
