Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists, including its Sadar upazila unit ameer, form Dighalbagh village in Sadar upazila of Habiganj district on early Monday.
The arrestees were Abdul Kuddus, ameer of Sadar upazila unit of Jamaat, Abul Kalam, Abdur Noor, Nazrul Islam, Ruhul Amin, hailing from Dighalbagh village, reports UNB.
Based on information, a team of RAB-9 conducted the drive in the area and arrested the five men on suspicion of operatives of Jamaatul Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) along with jihadi books and anti-government leaflets, Yeasinul Haq, the Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station.
RAB handed over the detainees to the police station and filed a case under anti-terrorism act, he added.
