Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 20 people on charge of using narcotics in Rajshahi on Friday.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite anti-crime force conducted raids in different areas of Godagari upazila in the district and arrested them red-handed.
The team also seized huge quantity of drugs including phensidyl and marijuana and some other drugs-taking materials from their possessions.
Later the arrested suspects were produced before a mobile court.
After examining the relevant evidences, the court sentenced them to different terms of jail.
Anwar Hossain, Assistant Superintendent of Police working at RAB, said different courts sent more than 140 drug-addicts to jail after proven guilty in last one week.
Meanwhile, Department of Narcotics Control arrested an alleged female drug-pedlar identified as Rokeya Khatun, 45, wife of Monirul Islam, with 200 grams of heroin from Krishnabati area under Godagari upazila on Friday afternoon, said a BSS report.
