Police arrested a man on charge of killing a schoolgirl after being failed to violate her in Dasherkathi village of Kaukhali upazila on Tuesday night.
Quoting victim’s mother, police said the victim along with her elder sister went to collect mangoes during rain. Getting wet, the victim’s elder sister went to home while the victim remained busy in collecting mangoes.
As the victim did not return home till Monday night, her father filed a missing complaint with Kaukhali Police Station and following it, police recovered the victim’s body from the canal in the night.
Later, victim’s mother filed a murder case with Kaukhali Police Station accusing Parvez Mahajan and Sohel Mahajon, two sons of Forkan Mahajan.
Police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Sohel while Parvez went into hiding after the incident, reports UNB.
Police suspected that the accused strangled the victim to death after being failed to violate the girl, said Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Kaukhali Police Station.
