Police arrested four people from Khilkhet area in the capital early Wednesday in connection with a case filed for killing of a Jubo League activist on March 26.
Mohammad Shahidullah, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) deputy commissioner of Detective Branch, said a team of police arrested the accused after raiding the house of a female Awami League leader in Goran area of Khilkhet. After the murder, several murder accused, including Awami League leader Haji Iqbal, went into hiding at the house.
However, police failed to arrest Haji Iqbal as he fled after sensing the presence of police but his son was among the detainees, he said.
The accused will be brought back to Chattogram soon, he added.
According to the case statement, earlier on March 26, a local Jubo League activist Mohiuddin, 30, son of Abu Ibrahim, was hacked to death at Meher Afroze High School ground during voting for forming a school reunion committee following an internal feud, reports UNB.
