A court in Pirojpur on Tuesday sentenced a man to five years jail for selling fake US dollars at Tuskhali village of Mathbaria upazila in 2015.
The convict is Selim Hawladar, son of late Majid Hawladar of the same village, reports UNB.
The court also fined the convict Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer six months more imprisonment.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police led by sub-inspector Iqbal of Mathbaria Police Station, arrested Selim along with 10 notes of 100 US dollar from Tuskhali Bazar of the upazila on February 21, 2015.
Later, a case was filed in this connection.
After examining the documents and seven witnesses, District and Sessions Judge Rafiqul Islam handed down the verdict.
