A man has been killed in an alleged shootout with police in Kushtia’s Daulatpur.
The gunfight took place at the Pipulbaria-Baliadanga field around 3:45am on Wednesday, said Daulatpur Police Station OC Shah Dara Than
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Tony, a local resident, reports bdnews24.
“A police team led by SI Rahim went to the area after receiving news of criminal activity. The criminals opened fire on the team and they retaliated. Some of the criminals fled. One was found wounded on the scene.”
He was taken to Daulatpur Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, said OC Dara.
Locals and members of his family identified the man as Tony. Several cases, including one for murder, were pending against Tony, the OC said.
Police recovered a pistol, a magazine of ammunition and two bullets from the scene. Three police personnel were injured in the shootout and received first aid, said Dara.
