A young man was stabbed to death by his rivals over a trifling matter at Kholabaria Khamarpara in Sadar upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Raihan , 14, son of Hashem Mia of Khamarpara area.
Police said Raihan got engaged in a quarrel with some youths over previous enmity at Khamarpara Madrasha where local people arranged an Islamic mahfil around 7 pm.
At one stage, one of the youths hit Raihan with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was taken to Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injures around 11 pm, reports UNB.
On information, police recovered the body and arrested three people in this connection.
