Customs intelligence officials on Monday night seized 40 gold bars worth about Tk 23.2 million from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the airport.
“We seized 40 gold bars weighing 4.652 kg under a seat (25/A) of a Bangkok returned aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG-089) around 6.30pm on Monday,” director general (DG) of customs intelligence Dr Sahidul Islam told BSS on Tuesday.
The estimated value of the seized gold bars is Tk 2, 32, 60,000, he said, adding that none was however arrested to this end.
