Customs Officials detained a man along with 22 gold bars weighing around 2.5kg from Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Saturday morning.
The arrestee has been identified as Sadikur Rahman Samu, 40, hailing from Provakarpur village in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj district.
Mohammad Ali, an Assistant Commissioner of customs intelligence, said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines BG-248 from Dubai landed at the airport around 7am.
On suspicion, customs officials challenged Sadikur and recovered the gold bars concealed in his shoes, UNB reported citing the official.
