Law enforcers in special drives arrested 21 people, including seven suspected drug pedlars, from different areas of Dinajpur district in the last 12-hour until 8:00 am on Friday.
Law enforcers also seized 259 bottles of Phensidyl, 220 pieces of Yaba tablets and 2,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets during the drives.
Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district on different charges.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested four people, including two drug pedlars, with 50 bottles of Phensidyl, Birganj Thana police arrested four, Phulbari Thana police arrested two, Nawabganj Thana police arrested two suspects, Chirirbandar Thana police arrested two while Ghoraghat Thana police arrested two people.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrestees, the sources added.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained five drug pedlars with 209 bottles of Phensidyl, 220 pieces of Yaba tablets and 2,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets at around 11:00 pm from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district, reports BSS.
Later, the detainees were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said.
The arrestees were then sent to jail.
