Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered nine gold bars weighing 1.0 kg from Putkhali area under Benapole Port Police Station on Tuesday noon.
Tipped off, when a team of the paramilitary force conducted a drive in Khalshi area around 12pm some smugglers fled the area leaving a bag with gold bars behind.
Later, the BGB men recovered the gold bars worth Tk 4.2 million from the bag and handed it over to the customs house, said camp commander Omar Faruk of BGB-21 Battalion, reports UNB.
