Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 24 gold bars, weighing 2.7 kgs, from Ghiba in Benapole port area on Thursday night.
Acting on information, a team of BGB-49 conducted a drive in the area and seized 24 gold bars, wrapped in a plastic paper, around 10:30pm, said Commanding officer of BGB-49 Lt Col Mohammad Ariful.
The market value of the gold bars is Tk 8.4 million.
The recovered gold was deposited to Benapole Port Police Station, says a UNB report.
A case has been filed in this connection.
