Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered two pistols, two magazines, 11 rounds of bullet and 5.5 kilograms of gunpowder from Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Tuesday night.
BGB sources said a team of the border force recovered the firearms and ammunition during a special drive in Tarapur field on the frontier with India.
The BGB members challenged a group of smugglers as they entered Bangladesh territory after being chased by Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
Being confronted by the BGB, the smugglers fled away leaving behind a bag. After searching the bag, the BGB members found the weapons and ammunition, reports BSS.
The recovered items were then handed over to the local police.
