Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday arrested a Union Parishad (UP) member from Parkrishnapur village of Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga.
The arrestee was identified a Khairul Islam, 38, member of ward no. 8 of Parkrishnapur Union Parishad, reports UNB.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area and arrested Khairul Islam and recovered around 28 kilograms of silver from his possession, said Lieutenant Colonel Imam Hasan of Chuadanga-6 BGB.
The market value of the silver is Tk 4.5 million, he added.
