Another suspect has been killed in an alleged gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion or RAB in Feni as the crackdown on drug traffickers continues.
Senior ASP Mimtanur Rahaman briefed the media that a RAB-7 patrol waved a car to stop at a check post in Daudpool area around 11:15 pm on Tuesday.
“The RAB personnel retaliated when the people in the car opened fire without responding to the signal. A person’s bullet-hit body was found in the car later,” Mimtanur claimed.
He identified the deceased as Md Faruk, 35, who he said was ‘an infamous drug dealer’.
RAB later seized a gun, five rounds of bullets and five bullet cases, along with 22,000 Yaba pills from the scene.
RAB-7 in a text message said Faruk had many cases filed against him on various charges, including under narcotics control law.
At least 26 people have been killed in anti-drug operations in past four days after Prime minister Sheikh Hasina declared a ‘war on drugs’, reports bdnews24.
