The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday filed a case against Public Works Department office assistant Selim Mollah for illegally amassing wealth.
Selim was recently arrested for kidnapping a businessman and his friend from the city.
ACC Deputy Director Faridur Rahman filed the case against Selim, also a local Awami League leader of Manikganj, with Ramna Police Station, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
According to the case statement, Selima Mollah did not provide any legal document for wealth worth Tk 211,90,985 in the wealth statement submitted to the ACC.
Selim Mollah, his son and eight other people were arrested on Sunday last for kidnapping a Manikganj businessman, Zafar Iqbal, 40, and his friend Miraz Gazi, 35.
They kidnapped the duo from the capital's Farmgate area on Friday morning and demanded Tk 4.5 million as ransom.
The kidnappers did not release them even after getting a ransom of Tk 285,0000.
Selim Mollah is the vice-president of Harirampur upazila Awami League while his son Rajibul Islam is the general secretary of the upazila unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
Law enforcers rescued the victims from the house of Selim Mollah at Kaloi village in Harirampur and arrested Selim Mollah, his son and eight others over the incident.
