Sherpur’s Nakla Upazila chairman found hanging from ceiling

Police recovered the hanging body of Nakla Upazila chairman from his residence at Kursha in Nakla Upazila headquarters in Sherpur on Friday.

The deceased Mahbub Ali alias Manir, aged 65, was a former joint convener of district unit BNP.

Informed by locals, police recovered Manir's body, hanging from the ceiling fan of his house around 8:00 am, said Khan Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge of Nakla Police Station, reports news agency UNB.

Police suspected that Manir might have committed suicide.

Manir used to live at the house with his second wife, the OC added.
