KAMPS provides free treatment, medicine to 3,000 patients

Nearly 3,000 underprivileged patients received free treatment and medicines in a free medical camp at Sakhipur in Tangail district on Tuesday, reads a press release.

Voluntary organisation Kidney Awareness, Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS) organised the camp as part of paying tribute to language martyrs on International Mother Language Day 2023.

Being imbued with the spirit of the day, KAMPS undertakes a move to honour the martyred language heroes in a different way like providing free medical treatment to a segment of people who are deprived of opportunity in society.

A seminar was also organised on the same premises while a cover-unveiling ceremony of KAMPS’s publication Proyash-19 was held on the occasion.

Local lawmaker Adv Joaherul Islam attended the event as the chief guest, and Tangail DC Jashim Uddin Haider, UNO Farzana Alam, SP Sarker Md Kaiser and Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital principal Prof Dr Ekhlasur Rahman were present as special guests.

KAMPS founder and chairman Prof Dr MA Samad chaired the event. He also made a PowerPoint presentation on the topic of the seminar, especially highlighting the overall situation of kidney diseases in Bangladesh.

Speakers there stressed the need for concerted efforts of the government, non-governmental and voluntary organisations to ensure kidney treatment for all.

They said every possible effort should be made to ensure people’s right to treatment of kidney patients from remote areas.

Former additional secretary of commerce ministry Mansurul Alam Heera, information ministry deputy secretary Md Awlad Hossain Sumon, Prof Dr Habubujjaman, head of forensic department at Anwar Khan Modern Medical College and Hospital, Prof Dr Abdul Halim, principal of Kumudini Women’s Medical College, and KAMPS general secretary Prof Dr Harisul Huq, among others, also spoke.
