BOGRA, Jan 4: Rapid progress of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) suffers a setback due to bad shape of connector road and adequate drainage facilities for a long time due to negligence of authority concern in Bogra.
According to BSCIC official, the praiseworthy industry started its operation since 1964 on 14 acres of land at Fulbari area of Sadar upazila to boost the economic condition. Later, it acquired some 18.67 acre of land since1980 for betterment of the industry.
A total 33.17 acre of land is being used for some 230 plots in favour of 92 industries, said president of BSCIC Industry Owners' Association Ayunur Rahman. He again said, thousands of daily usable goods are being produced and hundreds of vehicles are moving on the only road round the clock for transporting goods from the area.
We have to bear extra fare for transporting raw material as the road is muddy, complained owner Alamin Shekh, 28, under the Shibganj upazila. If the authority takes immediate step, they would be grateful to them.
Some owners of the industries condemned that the service charge is increasing every year but they did not find any development of the road. They urged the authority concern to take proper step to reconstruct the road as soon as possible.
"I have to run five to six time on the road for transporting goods," said truck driver Masir Uddin, 45, under Sadar upazila of the district. He further said, "The vehicles are the worst sufferer due to the bad condition of the road."
Deputy General Manager (DGM) Makbul Hossain said, "due to scarcity of the adequate fund we can't take the effective step. But we will take immediate steps to develop the road and drainage system as soon as possible," he added.
