A Joypurhat court on Monday sentenced four people to life imprisonment in a case filed over killing an eight-year old boy in 2008 over land dispute.
District Additional Sessions Judge Nurul Islam pronounced the judgment.
The court also fined the convicts Tk 50,000 each, in default of which they will have serve additional two years jail term, reports UNB.
The convicts are Bablu, son of Mobarak, Aminul Islam Lalu, son of Ingraj Mandal, Abdul Hamid, son of Abdul Kader and Kajal son of Fida Mia from Khetlal upazila.
According to case statement, on May 3, 2008, Obaidur Rahman, a construction worker of Suryaban village in Khetlal upazila, and his wife went to work leaving their son Tanvir with his grandmother and sister at home.
The convicts strangled Tanvir to death and dumped this body into a pond beside his house over a longstanding land dispute with his father.
Police recovered Tanvir's body from the pond after being informed by his family.
A murder case was filed in this regard at Khetlal police station later.
