Naval police in a drive held four fishermen from Nalchira Ghat area in Hatia Upazila of Noakhali district today (Oct 7) for violating the ongoing Hilsha ban, BSS reports.
The detainees were identified as Anowar Hossain, 21, Md Nurun Nabi, 28, Abdul Kuddus, 21, and Md Nur Uddin, 25. All of them are the residents of Hatia upazila
During the drive, the naval police seized one mound of Hilsha fish from their possession.
Later, a mobile court led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer and executive magistrate Md Selim Hossain fined each of the detainees Taka 4000. The seized Hilsha fish were given to an orphanage.
A 22-day ban on catching, selling and transporting of Hilsha fish has been effective from today.
