A minor girl died and 17 other people sustained injuries when a bus fell into a ditch on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Joybangla-Kanfordi area of Faridpur’s Nagarkanda upazila on early Monday.
The ten-month old victim was identified as Jannati Akhter, daughter of Ferdous Miah of Kakratoli village in Bagerhat district.
The accident occurred in the morning when the driver of a Bagerhat-bound ‘Diganta Paribahan’ lost control over its steering and plunged into a ditch, leaving Jannati spot dead and 17 other passengers injured, said Motahar Hossain, sub-inspector at Nagarkanda Police Station.
The passengers blamed drowsy driving of the driver for the accident, according to a UNB report.
