A couple was burned to death in a fire that broke out at a house in Konabari, Gazipur city on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Shafiqur Rahman and Nasrin Akter, tenants who were from Dimla in Nilphamari district.
AKM Ashraf Uddin, officer-in-charge of Konabari Police Station, said the fire broke out on the ground floor of the six-storey building, owned by one Sukkur Shikdar, in the early hours on Saturday, reports UNB.
The security guard of the building first noticed the fire and informed others.
Later, locals broke into the house and found the burnt bodies of the couple.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital.
However, what caused the fire could not be known immediately.
