A court in Lakshmipur has sentenced 14 people to life term imprisonment each in a case filed over killing a college student during robbery in a house in 2011.
Laxmipur additional district and sessions judge Nazmul Huda Talukder handed down the verdict on Wednesday.
Among the convicts, five were tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, a gang of robbers attacked the house of Kartik Paul at Kajir Dighirpar in Sadar upazila on July 2 in 1011.
Being obstructed, they opened fire on Dipta Paul, son of Kartik and a college student, leaving him dead on the spot and looted valuables, gold and cash.
Dipta’s uncle Sanjay Paul also received bullet injuries, reports UNB.
Later, victim’s father filed a murder and robbery case accusing 15 people on July 3 with Sadar Police Station.
Police submitted a charge sheet in April 2013 against 14 people. The court awarded the sentence after examining all the records and 22 witnesses.
