A mild to moderate cold wave is likely to continue and spread over the western part of the country until Wednesday as the temperature is likely to remain between 7.0 to 10 degrees Celsius, according to a Met official.
Light rainfall activity is likely to occur over the northeastern part of the country from Wednesday, Hafizur Rahman, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), told The Financial Express.
Chuadanga recorded 7.0 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature so far in the country this year on Monday morning, the meteorologist stated.
The mild cold wave may prevail in the regions of Gopalgonj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Panchagarh, Kurigram, Jashore, Kushtia, Chudanga and Barishal, he said.
Temperature between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius is termed a mild cold wave.
The moderate cold wave is termed when the temperature is recorded between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius while the temperature below 6 degrees Celsius is called intense cold wave.
A 24-hour Met office bulletin said weather may remain dry over the country. Light fog may occur at places over the country during early morning.
Ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh, it said, adding that the low pressure area over Southeast Bay and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean now lies as a well-marked low pressure area over South Andaman Sea off North Sumatra coast.
Night temperature may fall slightly over the southern part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country, the forecast said.
Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.
