Chittagong court sentenced a man to death over murder of his neighbour and acquitted nine other suspects.
Chittagong’s Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge Tania Kamal handed down the verdict on Tuesday.
The convict Abdur Sabur is at large.
Sabur and his armed men barged into his neighbour’s house in Bashkhali Upazila in February 2003, following a family feud, state counsel Nurul Ahsan said citing the case dossier.
Sabur opened fire targeting his neighbour Mozaher Ahmed but the bullet hit Mozaher’s wife Dilwara Begum killing her on the spot, Advocate Ahsan said.
Mozaher started the murder case with Bashkhali police on which the court indicted 11 suspects in 2006. A total nine witnesses have testified over the past 10 years, said Ahsan.
Bdnews24 said one suspect, Khalilur Rahman, has died.
