Owners of private hospitals and medical centres in Chattogram have called off a 20-hour halt to services for new patients after receiving ‘assurances’.

Private Hospital and Lab Owners Association General Secretary and Max Hospital Director Dr Liakat Ali Khan announced that services resumed on Monday.

“We have discussed the matter with the local administration and the BMA leadership. We are temporarily resuming services based on their assurances. We are opening the hospitals and will begin to provide medical care.”

Khan announced the halt to services after a RAB mobile court had raided Max Hospital in the wake of the death of a child due to ‘negligence,’ according to a bdnews24 report.

Patients and their relatives faced difficulties after owners shut private hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres and other medical outlets starting at 4:00pm on Sunday.
