A collision between a bus and a lorry has left at least 10 persons dead and several others wounded in Narayanganj.
Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Moinul Haque said the accident occurred on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in the Upazila’s Chibordi Mugrapara area around 1:30pm on Monday.
Traffic Police Inspector Taslim Hossain of Narayanganj said the bus overturned after it was struck by the lorry, causing casualties. Four of the dead have been taken to the Sonargaon Upazila Medical Complex.
Fifteen of the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 2pm. Four of them died before reaching the hospital, DMCH Police Outpost SI Bachchu Miah said.
Bdnews24 said one of those who died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital has been identified as 16-year-old Shuvo Saha.
The three others were a man of about 60 years of age in a panjabi and a checked lungi, a 27-year-old man and a 35-year-old in yellow trousers and a half shirt.
The four bodies at Sonargaon Upazila Medical Complex have yet to be identified.
Hassan, 20, Farhad Hossain, 28, Ashiqur Rahman, 25, Raju, 22, Kalam Mia and an eight-year-old named Mizan are among the 15 undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
