A Bangladeshi national was gunned down by members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India in Kantibhita border in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased was identified as M dRabbani, son of Pashiruddin Pashir of Taranjubari village, UNB reported.
Locals said the BSF members of Hatkhola camp opened fire on a group of cattle traders, including Rabbani, when they went to border pillar no 385/5 at around 4:00 am, leaving him dead.
Lt Col Tuhin Md Masud, commanding officer of Thakurgaon BGB-50 battalion, said he heard the incident and was now investigating the matter.
