The high-powered committee on road safety has asked the authorities to bring all roads and highways under the closed circuit television (CCTV) coverage.
The directive came from the first meeting of the committee, formed to monitor the implementation of all activities for overall development of the country’s traffic system, to ensure road safety, reports BSS.
Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Secretary Sajjadul Hassan presided over the meeting held at the PMO on Monday.
The government on August 20 formed the 18-member committee, headed by Sajjadul Hassan, to monitor implementation of various measures undertaken by the government to ensure road safety.
The committee directed the authorities concerned to bring the persons, who were responsible for the accidents that took place before and after the Eid-ul-Azha across the country, to the book.
It also asked for strengthening the mobile court activities so that the vehicles without route permit cannot ply roads and the traffic rules are maintained properly.
The meeting took a decision to spearhead a programme to encourage the people in obeying the traffic rules.
