Blast in Mymensingh leaves one dead, three injured

A student of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) was killed and three others sustained burn injuries in a blast at a building of Masterbari area under Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh in the wee hours of Saturday.

The dead has been identified as Touhid, a final year student of KUET and an intern of Mymensingh Textile Mill, hailing from Bogra.

Mamun-or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said an explosion inside the six-storey building rocked the area around 12:30am.

On information, he said, they rushed in and found a room of the second floor of the building badly damaged, reports UNB.

Touhid was found lying dead while three others – Shahin, hailing from Sirajganj, Hafiz from Naogaon and Dipto Sarker from Magura – were lying injured there, the police officer said.

The injured were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), he said. Later, two of them – Hafiz and Dipto – were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their conditions were critical.

MMCH on-duty doctor Sunanda Sen said they have referred the two to the DMCH as they had critical injuries.
