This bill aims to give the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) a legal shape.
The law has sorted the activities and services of the department, which mainly deals with the forecast of natural disasters and everyday weather patterns.
The proposed law has also defined the term 'meteorology' and 'meteorological phenomenon', tsunami, earthquake and other natural disasters.
It has defined the eligibility of the persons to be considered as the meteorological scientists.
According to the bill, all atmospheric events happened within the space and beyond will be considered as the meteorological phenomenon.
Under the proposed law, the BMD will have the authority to take training and research programmes for the capacity-building of its manpower, reports UNB.
