The weather department has predicted more rains across the country in the next 24 hours, with monsoon being less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over the North Bay.
“Light to moderate rains or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” the department said in its bulletin on Tuesday.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added, reports UNB.
The weather office recorded the highest 70 mm of rainfall in Tetulia of Rangpur division in 24 hours till 6am on Tuesday.
The mercury reached 35.6 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.5 degrees in Sylhet.
Meanwhile, the axis of monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends upto the Northwest Bay, as per the bulletin.
