Bangladesh Army, working on UN peacekeeping mission in Mali, has successfully foiled an attack by a group of miscreants on a UN logistic convoy.
The convoy, escorted by Bangladeshi peacekeepers, was headed for Ménaka city from Gao Province of Mali, according to official sources.
Bangladesh Battalion (BANBAT-7, Minusma), a contingent of Bangladesh Army has been in peace keeping mission in Gao Province of the West African country.
The aforementioned contingent was given responsibility to escort the UN logistic convoy from May 20 to 26.
When Bangladeshi soldiers has been escorting the convoy on May 22, some 230 km away from Gao, a group of eight to ten people started firing on the convoy on all a sudden.
In response, peacekeepers also gave strong feedback to the attackers which forced the miscreants fall back from the scene.
Due to the excellent strategy of Bangladesh Army, the situation was taken under control without any casualty, the source said.
